Network Marketing Events: 3 Company Convention Secrets

Network marketing events play a huge role in your success and your downline duplication depends on how many MLM events they go to.

At minimum, you MUST attend your company convention and I'll give you the reasons why.

Nothing Beats Live Events

Let me first share a personal story and 3 moments in my life that I'll never forget or you can just skip to why network marketing events create success and duplication.

1 ) U2 at MSG

First one was when I was only 18 and a huge fan of the music band, U2.

I found out that they were visiting NYC on their Zoo TV Tour but unfortunately I had no money nor connections on how to get tickets.

Miraculously a friend of a friend of a friend from college sold me an extra ticket for only $25. The next thing you know I was inside Madison Square Garden watching U2 performing live!

Since I could get only one ticket, I went by myself and had to sit all the way in the upper upper deck.

I could barely see Bono but it didn’t matter.

The music sounded better and the entire experience of enjoying endless music with others was incredible.

Music at home never sounded that good again.

2 ) Michael Jordan’s Pregame Introduction

The second event was standing courtside when Michael Jordan was introduced in his last home game for the Chicago Bulls.

They had turned off the stadium lights and when his name was introduced, the stadium was briefly lit with camera flashes.

I had goose bumps all over from the music, the voice of the announcer and cheering along with 20,000 plus fans.

The atmosphere was incredible.

Basketball on TV was never exciting to me again.

3 ) Attending My First Network Marketing Event

The last event was when I was only 6 months into my MLM business and attended my first live MLM event.

 

I was a MLM distributor for about 6 months and had some limited success.

Part of my lack of success was my weak belief in the network marketing profession.

Deep down I was kind of embarrassed I was in MLM because few of my friends joined and most of them never even heard of MLM.

However my belief and confidence went through the roof after I got to network and meet other successful distributors who were actively building their businesses.

The next week after that network marketing event I immediately earned my first $1,000 USD check and rank advanced to Silver Director in my company.

Importance of Attending Live Network Marketing Events

I once spoke at a network marketing event at Implementation Bootcamp in Sydney.

One of the upcoming leaders there asked me how to convince their downlines to attend their live trainings.

Why should you attend a live network marketing event when you can stay at home and watch the recording later?

It’s the same reasons why people go to concerts, attend live sporting events and attend seminars.

3️⃣ Reasons Why Attending Network Marketing Events are Important

You'll get more out of your money when you attend things live.

For 3 simple reasons.

1) You Are More Focused and Aware at Network Marketing Events

When you are listening to a recording you can easily become distracted.

You may be multi-tasking, not fully paying attention nor thinking about how you will apply what you are learning.

In other words, you are not maximizing the training and wasting your time.

2) The Atmosphere at Network Marketing Events Motivate You

A big part of network marketing success is to stay connected.

We are a product of our environment and what we surround ourselves with plays a big part in our success.

Listening to music at home is not the same as going to the concert because of the other intangible factors such as the lighting, singing along with others, the dancing, etc.

Watching basketball on TV doesn’t give you the roar of the crowd nor the live intros.

When you attend a live MLM training event, you get to be in the same room and see things that you don’t get at home.

It’s one of the reasons why attending your company’s annual Convention is so important.

Your live MLM training event is the few times of the year when you are only surrounded by positive and motivated people.

It’s your escape from the negative people that bring you down.

3) Meet Top Leaders at MLM Events

Millionaires don’t attend events just for the training.

Most of them already know the stuff that is being taught but they are wise enough to know that the REAL value is in the networking.

There is no better way to meet and pick the brains of successful people than to attend a live MLM event.

I had low self confidence and lacked the belief in MLM to be successful but fortunately I attended my first event and had a major breakthrough.

Since then, I’ve made an effort to attend every live event possible.

In this next section we'll talk about how to maximize your network marketing company's company convention.

Why You Must Attend Your Company Convention

MLM events play a huge part to your success in network marketing and nothing is more important than going to your company's annual Convention. 

Regardless of your tight financial situation, you must find a way to come up with the money and go.

Just to let you know who important it is to go…

When I was building, I would not work with anyone in my downline that skipped out on the annual company convention. 

Now you may think that was too strict and rigid but I had valid reasons why.

In over 23 years in MLM, I have NEVER met anyone that earns over $1,000 USD / week that has NOT gone to his company's convention. 

Everyone who earns, goes.  And everyone that does not go, fails to achieve their goals.  

So if you are skipping out, that means you are going to succeed. 

And if you are not going to succeed, then there was no point for me to waste that person's time nor my time to train them. 

The person might as well just give up!

You may think I was too strict but just look or ask around and I bet you that you will NEVER find anyone that earns over $1,000 USD a week that has NEVER been to their company's convention!

Benefits of Attending Company Convention

At your company convention, you get to:

– learn skills from top leaders

– meet and network with other people in your company and industry

 And more importantly, you get to build on your 4 Beliefs in MLM.

1 ) Increases Your 4 Beliefs

At network marketing events, you will build your Beliefs in:

1) Company – you will get to see first hand what your company is about

2) Industry – you will personally meet tons of people who have made it in MLM

3) Products – you will learn more about the products and its benefits

4) Yourself – you will realize that you CAN succeed because network marketing does NOT discriminate. 

When I went to my first company convention I saw all types of people from different educational backgrounds, ages, ethnicities become successful and I asked myself,

“If they can do it, then how come I can't do it?!”

2 ) You'll Be Better at Recruiting and Selling Products

After attending your Convention, you will immediately become better at recruiting to get people to join and also get customers.

Why?

Simply because you have increased your 4 Beliefs.

As your Beliefs become stronger, you will be more confident when you share your business and products.  

And remember… people ALWAYS BUY YOU first

They buy your vision, confidence and passion.  

So the stronger your Beliefs are, the more people will become attracted to you.

That is why attending your company events are SO important!

3 ) You Meet New Friends that Will Help You

My favorite part and the MOST important part of company conventions is not the actual training you get at these MLM events…

The best part is the networking!

It's about meeting new friends who have the same passion as you do.

It's about catching up with old friends and keeping each other accountable.

That's my favorite part of Convention.

It's all about the relationships.

By the way, isn't that what MLM is about?!

One of the most overlooked benefits of MLM is the network that you develop.

And by network, I don't just mean your downline. I mean everyone that you create a relationship with.

MLM has introduced great friends that has made my life more fun.

Along the way, I've also learned a few valuable tips.

Each year, I've discovered secret tips from other distributors.

One year, I learned a tip at a party at the Hard Rock Cafe in Salt Lake City that earned me immediatley $80,000 USD the next year.

Another year, I learned a secret on why you should not buy leads and how they're a rip off.

Getting to meet people and also connect people is what makes network marketing events so fun.

How to Maximize Your Company Convention Experience

You will have a great time at your company convention and time will fly by fast.  

But don't just go there and “see how it is” or to “check things out.”

You invested good money and time away from your family to be at this network marketing event so make sure you maximize the experience and get as much out of it as you can.

Come Up with 10 Goals

Before you go, it is important that you write down at least 10 Goals of what you want to achieve at your event.

These goals are like a checklist or a To Do list of things you want to learn or get out of the event. 

Before I went to my first ever annual Company Convention in 2004, I created a list of Goals I wanted to achieve and later on, these goals allowed me to solidify my vision and create the foundation for my success in building a global MLM business

Some of the goals I had were to:

– Learn how to build internationally 

– Meet a successful leader from Hong Kong

– Meet a successful leader from Mexico

– Meet a successful leader from Taiwan

– Meet a specific Diamond Director who I knew had already been building overseas

– What is the first thing I must do if I wanted to expand into Hong Kong

So what are your goals you want to achieve at your upcoming company convention?

Make a list and also get your team members make a list. 

Time will fly by fast and this checklist will prevent you from wasting time and instead help you get the most out of your MLM event experience!

5 Things You Must Do Everyday at Convention

Once you have your goals down, here are 5 things you must do at this network marketing event

1) Learn 1 Thing About Your Company

Make sure you learn something new each day about your company and write down a specific action step you will take.

For i.e. if you learned about your company's history of international expansion, you can write a Facebook post sharing your excitement to grow a global business.

2) Learn 1 Thing About The Products

Write down a specific action plan on something new you have discovered about your company's products.

For i.e. if you learned how your company's products help alleviate joint pain, you can send that info to all your friends that have achy knees.

3) Learn 1 Thing About the MLM Profession

Go hunt down some new fact about the network marketing profession that you never knew about and then take action on that new info.

For i.e., if you learned how over 156 million Americans participate or have purchased products from a direct selling company, you can share that info the next time a friend says that you are in an illegal pyramid.

4) Learn 1 Thing About Fulfilling Your Potential

Learn 1 new skill that you didn't know before.

Remember, no one was born with skills and all skills are learned.

You can learn the same skills that the top income earners have learned to become successful.

For i.e. if you learned how to answer the “I don't like to sell” then you can immediately practice and say it the next time your friends says they don't like to sell.

5) Meet One Successful Distributor and Learn What Made Him Become Successful

A great question to ask someone who is a top income earner is to have them share one of their toughest moments in the business and what went through their minds that helped them overcome the challenges.

Write down what they did and put it somewhere you can see it so that the next time you encounter challenges and you're down, you can apply it and also use it for motivation.

Have Specific Goals and Take Specific Action!

You've invested good money and valuable time to attend Convention so make sure you do these 5 things every day and commit to your written action plan.

The sooner you take action on what you are learning each day you quicker you will grow your business.

5 Things You Must Do Immediately After Convention is Over

You are back from attending an amazing Convention!  

You are excited and motivated!  

You want to successful and be on stage next year!

So now what?

How do you transform the excitement and what you have learned into getting actual results in your network marketing business?

Here are 5 things you must do and the sooner you do these, the quicker you will get results

1) Create Your Vision

At the MLM event, you got to see a much bigger picture of your company and the endless possibilities of achieving financial freedom.  

You witnessed people from all different types of backgrounds become successful.  

Now the question is, how will YOU become successful?

What is the vision for your business?

To give you an example, when I went to my first international company convention, I met a number of successful associates from Asia. 

That inspired me and I created a vision of having a successful Global MLM business.  

And the time, my business was mostly in the USA but my new vision helped me expand internationally.

2) 90 Day Goal

Create a 90 Day Goal of where you want your business to be. 

How many associates will you sponsor? 

How many of your downlines will duplicate your success? 

What type of trainings will you provide to your team? 

Will you be starting a weekly call? 

How much you will be earning each week?

Those are some questions that you have to ask yourself.  

Be realistic and be truthful. 

But once you set these goals, then we are ready to “work backwards” and go to the next step!

3) Weekly Goal

You have to work backwards and set your weekly goal.

Here is an example:

If you want to sponsor 1 person a week for the next 12 weeks (90 days), then work the numbers. (note the numbers below are just examples.  Your actual ratio may be better or worse but make sure you track your numbers!)

If I talk to any 20 people, 15 will not be interested but 5 will agree to attend a presentation.  Out of the 5 that attend a presentation, at least 1 will sign up.  

So if you want to sponsor 1 new associate a week, you simply have to talk to 20 new people each week.  Expand that to your 90 Day Goal and that means you need to talk to 120 people in the next 90 days.

4) Daily Action Goal

Once you have your weekly goal set, the next step is to break it down further and set your daily goal.  

Remember, it is your DAILY ACTION that determines your long term success.  

What you are doing every minute and every second of your time will determine your long term success!

So use your time wisely!

The best Daily Action plan that I recommend is to work THE DMO and income producing activities

5) Surround Yourself with Positive People

The reason why events such as Convention are so motivating is because you are surrounded by positive and successful people. 

Positivity creates energy!

But the real world is dangerous and filled with the negative people and the haters. 

Make sure you protect yourself and continue to spend time with people that will help you become successful instead of those that steal your dreams.

3 Easy Ways to Surround Yourself with Positivity:

– Spend time with people in the network marketing community

– Commit to Self Development (for i.e. listen to motivational audios)

– Attend training events

Take Action Now!

Best time to take MASSIVE ACTION is when you are motivated after attending Convention.  Don't waste this momentum!

Take action ASAP and work on the 5 things.  Once you do these 5 things, make sure you do your 5 Core Production Activities and 553!  

Remember… It is your daily actions that will determine your long term success! 

WARNING: What Happens After Convention Is Over

The #1 Reason why Conventions are so motivating is because you are SURROUNDED BY POSITIVE PEOPLE!

Positivity creates energy, excitement and fun!

But once Convention is over, things can go downhill fast.

You can easily lose your motivation.

The excitement is gone.

Your doubts about achieving success start creeping up.

Why?

The reason is because the outside world is filled with negative news…

filled with gossip…

And the worse part… the real world is filled with negative people and haters!

The negative people and haters love to tell you MLM is a scam or that you are not the “type” of person that can be successful in network marketing.

They will take you down and sabotage your success.

How to Stay Motivated

Do your best to avoid the negative people and haters. 

Don't waste time to convince them or fight them… because they will suck up your mental energy, waste your time and steal your dreams.

The only thing you can do is to use them as motivation to prove them wrong!

How to Stay in a Positive Environment

Here are some simple ways to create that positive environment so that you can flourish:

1) Communicate with your mentor or upline daily

2) Communicate with your team daily

3) Attend all training events

4) Connect with the new friends that you met at Convention

5) Invest in personal development or listen to MLM Nation's podcast with inspiring stories

Book Your Company Convention ASAP

Life always throw curveballs and weird things at you. 

That is part of life.  Something always comes up and makes things inconvenient.

Before you get distracted and come up with reasons why you can't go to the next Convention, just book your ticket NOW!

It is the MOST important network marketing event that you have to understand this year.

One of the things I did every year was I purchased my company convention ticket the second it became available and also booked my travel accommodations. 

Normally I do this a year in advance and because a lot of it is nonrefundable it prevents me from coming up with excuses and bailing out as the event approaches.

So get to your company convention today!  

And if you have already booked your company convention, make sure you have at least 10 Goals Written Down before you arrive so that you can maximize your time and money you have invested.

Success in MLM is Built On Network Marketing Events

Your success in MLM is dependent on how many network marketing events you go to and also how many of your downlines attend these MLM events.

Events motivate us and we get to learn things and meet people that we could never get from any recording.

Make sure you and your downlines attend as many live training events as possible because years from now, you’ll be able to pinpoint the exact event that turned your business around.
